Something is happening…there are earthquakes plaguing North America.  There is an evil that is taking over people, causing them to hunt those who are “normal.” Cities that were once bustling are now filled with smoke from fires and the metallic smell of blood. 

Four teenagers find themselves fighting for their lives.  Aries, in Vancouver, was on her way to play practice where her role was minor. Now, she finds herself in cast in a real role, but as leader.  Mason, in Calgary, was saved by someone’s death.  Michael, in Colorado, thought the police where there to protect.  Clementine, in Iowa, learned the hard way that you cannot trust anyone.  Their stories come together in the end, but will that be enough to save them? 

Why I picked it up: I found this on the new book cart and thought “Why not?”  I tend to stay away from books about the apocalypse, but I am glad that I didn’t let that stop me from reading this book.

Why I finished it: I have never read a book that scared me like this one.  I found myself so connected to the characters that I couldn’t put it down!  I am looking forward to the second book that is due to come out this summer.

I’d give it to:  My husband Keith, loves the notion of the apocalypse….he’s one of those Mad Max kinds of guys.
